Oct 23, 2007 (newstodate): The Norwegian IATA export airfreight market, driven by exports of fresh salmon, increased significantly during the first nine months of 2007.
In total the IATA volumes grew by 31.4 percent to 41,235 tonnes of cargo, while Denmark's growth during the same period was 13.1 percent, and Sweden's 6.3 percent.
Norway was Scandinavia's second largest IATA export airfreight market after Sweden with 60,696 tonnes, and followed by Denmark with 35,965 tonnes.
The Norwegian market was dominated by exports to Japan, constituting 26.7 percent of the total volumes, and to China, 24.7 percent.
Third came South East Asia, 10.7 percent, and North America, 9.5 percent of the total IATA export airfreight volumes.
On the rise during January-September 2007 were exports to Korea, up 84.7 percent, while the Japanese market grew 26.7 percent and the Chinese market 24.7 percent.
