Oct 12, 2007 (newstodate): Icelandair Cargo's decision to, presumably temporarily, move its planned freighter operation from Stockholm Arlanda to Norrkoping Airport will have no impact in the market.
-Delivery times and deadlines will be the same in either case, and the three-hour trucking between the two airports does not pose any problems, says Per Wahlsted, Scandinavian AirBridge - the carrier's cargo GSA.
-Pallets with shipments from Southern Sweden will be built at Norrkoping, while shipments from Central and Northern Sweden will be palletised at Stockholm Arlanda, and trucked to Norrkoping.
Icelandair Cargo was forced to move to Norrkopping as Stockholm Arlanda proved unable to handle imports of Icelandic horses.
In effect, the actual launch of the service, planned for October 10, had to be cancelled due to aircraft technical problems.
The launch date is now set for October 17, instead.
