Oct 23, 2007 (newstodate): Russia and Ukraine have agreed on a plan to build a new joint airport on the border between the two countries.
The new airport will be located between the Ukrainean city Kharkov and Russia's Belgorod, some 30-40 km from each.
Initial design and engineering work has been initiated by a Russian company, and plans are to build the airport into a hub for passenger and cargo traffic.
The plans for the USD 1.2 bio project is spurred by growing trade volumes between the two countries.
During the last seven months alone, this trade increased by one-third, sources say.
