Oct 31, 2007 (newstodate): Lufthansa Technik, has announced plans to set up a new overhaul facility in Bulgaria as a JV with Bulgarian Aviation Group.
The new facility is to be built at Sofia Airport, making the company the first international MRO provider to have a base in Bulgaria.
Over the last few years, the Bulgarian Aviation Group has developed from a regional provider into an internationally operating airline group, including three Bulgarian airlines Bulgaria Air, Hemus Air and Viaggio Air, now in a merger process.
Lufthansa Technik Sofia will offer base maintenance services, or D-checks, for the Airbus A320 family and for Boeing 737 aircraft, including the 737 Classic and the 737 NG, with operations planned to commence in October 2008.
