Oct 1, 2007 (newstodate): Russia's #3 airport in passenger volumes, Moscow Vnukovo Airport reports growth and expansion in 2007.
During the first eight months of this year, the airport saw passenger volumes up by 25.6 percent, y-o-y, to 4.4 mio passengers.
Before the end of this year, Vnukovo Airport plans to put its new control tower into operational use, re-open its second runway after completion of the reconstruction project, and finish expansion work on the airport's apron 1.
Construction work is still progressing on the airport's new 250,000 sq m passenger terminal, and a new cargo and mail terminal.
In 2006, Moscow's Vnukovo Airport saw a modest increase in cargo volumes by three percent.
In total the airport generated 22,257 tonnes of cargo in 2006, dominated by imports, 16,149 tonnes, unchanged against the preceding year.
The airport's export volumes, 6,108 tonnes, however grew by 11.4 percent, y-o-y.
