Oct 9, 2007 (newstodate): Moscow's Domodedovo Airport is planning for a Cargo Village, to be opened with two years in the western part of the airport.
-The airport is currently in talks with international partners, including developers and handling companies, to realise the project, says Evgeny Raevskiy, Domoedovo Airport director cargo.
-The design phase will take about one year, followed by the construction phase estimated to require another 18 months.
-The total warehouse space is still not decided upon, but it will probably be around 13-14,000 sq m, to which should be added other buildings for offices, 10,000 sq m, and a hangar.
The airport hopes to attract a major cargo airline operator to set up scheduled freighter operations from Domodedovo Airport, and talks are already going on.
