Oct 11, 2007 (newstodate): Kazakhstan would like to see new players enter its aviation business.
-Our country's cavil aviation sector is growing rapidly. In 2006 we had planned for a 19 percent increase in total passenger volumes but the year ended with an increase by 32 percent. During the first half year of 2007, we are up 32 percent, year-on-year, says Azar Bekturov, Kazakhstan vice-minister transport and communications.
-To spur further growth we are now granting more flexibility to airports to allow them to offer concessions to airlines. The new scheme will allow them to differentiate rates based on concrete services rendered while still maintaining our over-all regulations. Hopefully this will enable the airports to attract new airline customers, says Mr Bekturov.
