Oct 5, 2007 (newstodate): The Russian airline
Region-Avia has contracted Lufthansa Consulting to support development of its network strategy.
The Russian domestic aviation market prompts Region-Avia to focus intensively on setting up new services to many underserved regional markets.
During the project the LCG team faced the challenge of estimating the market sizes for the city pairs with no aviation traffic history and only scanty data available.
Besides identifying more than 30 new regional destinations in Central Russia, the LCG consultants evaluated various options for building up the most profitable network structure for the re-launch of a new regional airline.
Additionally, a set of basic recommendations on fleet size and fleet structure as well as the draft of a proposed schedule and rotation plan for 2008-2009 has been developed.
The new network plan was recently approved by several international financial institutions, and as a result of the project, Region-Avia has been granted a new credit line for fleet modernisation and the implementation of the new network plan proposed by Lufthansa Consulting.
With the support of LCG, Region-Avia is planning to re-launch its regional operations with a fleet of modern western-built turboprop aircraft from the summer of 2008.
