Oct 16, 2007 (newstodate): Bulgaria Air, owned by the Balkan Hemus Group company, has plans for a modernisation and expansion of its aircraft fleet.
Currently operating 10 Boeing 737 aircraft, the carrier will add two or three more before the end of next year, substituting for the return of two Boeing 737 at the end of their lease periods.
In the longer term, between five and 10 years, the Balkan Hemus Group sees a fleet of 25 aircraft for Bulgaria Air, including nine company-owned units.
The Group has contracted Lufthansa Consulting to oversee the merger of Bulgaria Air, Hemus Air and Viaggio Air by the end of 2007.
The Hemus Group won the tender for privatisation of Bulgaria Air on October 23, 2006, taking 99.99 percent of the stake.
