Jan 5, 2007 (newstodate): While no official news have yet emerged on the alleged JV between Serb carrier JAT and Air India, plans are for forming a new low-cost carrier by the end of this year, to be based at Belgrade.
Some four Boeing 737 new generation aircraft will be placed in Belgrade to serve a regional network, in addition to a few longhaul aircraft to serve routes to India and, probably, North America, sources say.
Late in 2006, a similar vision shared by the Indian lcc SpiceJet and the bankrupt Swedish carrier Swe Fly for low-cost India-Europe-USA flights via Stockholm, was ultimately grounded.
