Jan 15, 2007 (newstodate): Based at Tashkent, Samarkand Airways' Central Asia Flight Support and Coordination Center saw brisk business growth in 2006.
Incepted in 2005, the Center handled more than 150 flights in Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Afghanistan in its first year, and in 2006 the volume increased to 350 flights in Central Asia and CIS countries.
The Central Asia Flight support and Coordination Center is a JV between Samarkand Airways and its main shareholder, the US company Universal Mobility Solutions.
Samarkand Airways received its AOC on November 10, 2005, and was licenced for cargo transportation on domestic and international flights the same year.
Samarkand Airways has leased two IL-76 aircraft, based at Tashkent Aiport, from National Air Company.
