Jan 8, 2007 (newstodate): After a booming year in air cargo, the Swedish Orebro Airport is upbeat about prospects for 2007.
-While we have yet to finalise the statistics for 2006 there is no doubt that this became another record year in air cargo, says Peter Ornberg, Orebro Airport operations manager.
-We estimate to land around 24,000 tonnes, which is an increase by 50 percent over the preceding year. And with new developments negotiated already last year I am confident that 2007 will bring about even more business.
-About one-third of the volume today is generated by cargo trucking, but ad-hoc freighter charters are important as well, and we have already had several Boeing 747 and A300 freighter charter operations at Orebro since the turn of the year.
In 2006 Orebro Airport also palletised cargo for Icelandair's twice-weekly flights at JonKoping Airport, but after an initial period this is now performed by Jonkoping cargo handling itself.
