Jan 3, 2007 (newstodate): The Swedish airline Viking Airlines has expanded its flight program between Scandinavia and Iraq.
-On December 18 Viking Airlines added a bi-weekly flight from Stockholm to Suleimaniya in Kurdish Iraq, and this will be developed into a weekly flight from the start of February, says Mike Carlsson, Viking Airlines managing director.
-Viking Airlines was the first European airline to start operations into Iraq, flying from Stockholm to Erbil since December, 2005, and adding another weekly flight to Erbil from Copenhagen from November 2006, he says.
Mr Carlsson also confirms that the airline will soon announce new routes from European cities to Iraq as well as other services from Scandinavia to Middle East destinations.
All flights are performed with Viking Airlines' fleet of four MD-80 aircraft.
