Jan 29, 2007 (newstodate): In 2006, the Russian carrier S7 Airlines, formerly Sibir Airlines, saw its cargo and mail volumes up by 12 percent.
In total, the airline lifted 28,903 tonnes of airfreight.
Over the year S7 Sibir received 14 western-built aircraft, including six Airbus A319.
Also acquired in 2006 were two Boeing 737-400, the carrier's first, two Boeing 737-500, bringing the total number to 10, and four Airbus A310, bringing the total number to seven of this type.
In total S7's fleet thus comprises 25 western-built aircraft, which is the second largest in Russia and CIS after Aeroflot that operates 27 western-built aircraft.
