Jan 12, 2007 (newstodate): Yekatarinburg Koltsovo Airport in Russia's Sverdlovsk Region plans to start construction of a new runway in 2007.
Besides construction work on a new third runway built to ICAO standards, plans for 2007 also include a major maintenance project for one of the airport's two runways, while the other existing runway will be extended and widened.
In January 2005, Sverdlovsk Koltsovo Airport was designated to become the region's largest airport hub, and the Russian goverment pledged its full support of the project.
