Jan 5, 2007 (newstodate): Romania is to start building a new international airport, to be completed by 2009 after 18 months of construction starting this year following tenders new opened.
Brasov-Ghimbav International Airport will be designed for an initial capacity of one million passengers, and operations by medium-sized aircraft including Airbus A320 and Boeing 737.
The Canadian company Intelcan Technosystems Inc. will be the majority shareholder of the company, and also manage the Brasov-Ghimbav International Airport, holding 64.3 percent of the shares.
Intelcan is responsible for implementing the project for a fixed cost of 76 million euros within 18 months from the time works begin.
Intelscan is also responsible for obtaining the necessary financing, and will operate the future airport together with Ottawa International Airport.
Also included in the project is a cargo terminal.
