Jan 26, 2007 (newstodate): Beginning January 27, Korean Air will open regular cargo flights to Moscow.
Korean Air has adjusted the schedule of the cargo route between Frankfurt and Inchon, Korea, and inserted a stop at Moscow on the westbound flight from Korea.
The carrier will serve Moscow once weekly with a Boeing 747-400F freighter.
Due to the high tariffs imposed by the Russian government, most of the cargo destined for Russia has so far been sent in via Northern Europe including the Baltics.
But recently the tariffs were greatly lowered in a move by the Russian administration to smoothen the admission into WTO in 2007, and the direct cargo flow to Russia is now anticipated to increase.
Korea's major export items to Russia include cellular phones, electronic devices and textiles.
