Jan 23, 2007 (newstodate): In 2006, growth returned to Moscow Domodedovo Airport that saw its cargo volumes on the rise again after a year of steep decline in 2005.
In 2006 the airport generated a total of 126,300 tonnes of cargo, up 6.8 percent y-o-y.
This would indicate a total of 118,258 tonnes in 2005, compared to 116,000 tonnes earlier reported.
2005 was an expecially dark year with a decline in volumes by 37.2 percent compared to 2004, when volumes reached 189,683 tonnes.
According to the airport, the cargo rebound reflects the launch of services in 2006 of new airlines from the airport, use of more spacious aircraft by air carriers and growth of cargo transportation on domestic routes, supported by the dynamic development of the Russian economy.
Cargo traffic volume in December 2006 amounted to 11,900 tonnes, a 4.1 percent growth over December 2005.
