Jan 15, 2007 (newstodate): Kristianstad Airport in southern Sweden keeps a vigilant eye on the cargo business.
-Volvo Trucks is a large air cargo customer in the region, and this generates a signicant volume of ad-hoc charters with freighter aircraft the size of AN-12, Lockheed Electra and BAe 146, and this is an important business for us, says Jorgen Karstrom, Kristianstad Airport marketing manager.
-While our resources are limited, we are very much in the market to identify more cargo business, and if a long-term partner could be found we would indeed be interested in sharing investments in a cargo terminal and whatever equipment that would be required.
-With Copenhagen Airport and Malmo Sturup Airport not too far away, competition is, however, strong, but still a potential partner might find Kristianstad Airport an attractive option when a high level of flexibility and modest handling charges are required, says mr Karlstrom.
