Jan 5, 2007 (newstodate): By April, Icelandic freighter operator Bluebird Cargo, part of the FL Group, will add more aircraft capacity.
-We are currently operating a fleet of five concerted Boeing 737-300 freighters, and we will receive two Boeing 737-500 aircraft, purchased from PEMCO, that are currently being converted by STAECO, China, says Thor Kjartansson, Bluebird Cargo CEO.
-The new aircraft will take 10 percent more cargo, and offer an additional pallet position, compared to the Boeing 737-300.
-All aircraft are contracted by airlines, express companies including UPS and TNT, and postal companies, and we are now firming up contracts for the new aircraft as well.
-2006 has been according to Bluebird's budgets, and we have met all targets, says Mr Kjartansson.
Bluebird Cargo, set up and managed from the start by Mr Kjartansson, was acquired by the Icelandair Group in February, 2005.
