Jan 23, 2007 (newstodate): The rate of utilisation of Finnair's longhaul aircraft fleet will go further up in 2007.
With the annnouncement of new flights to China and India from this summer, Finnair will have to cut the current onward flights from Bangkok to Singapore, and a new thrice-wekly route to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, scheduled from May 21 has been shelved to free capacity.
All in all Finnair's Asian traffic will grow this year by over 30 percent since Finnair is adding its first two own new Airbus A340-300 aircraft to the long-haul fleet during May and June.
The carrier is however already operating one A340-300 aircraft since June 2006, acquired from Virgin Atlantic.
In December, 2005, Finnair announced its decision to acquire 12 Airbus wide-body aircraft, including nine A350-900 and three A340-300 aircraft, with options for another four A350 and an unannounced number of A340 aircraft.
