Jan 9, 2007 (newstodate): Finnair Cargo's 2006 annual traffic figures were topped by a four percent increase in total volumes, to 93,807 tonnes.
Reflecting the carrier's focus on its Asian traffic, the cargo growth in this segment boomed by 19.4 percent to 47,514 tonnes, while only the North American traffic was up, too, albeit more modestly by 2.9 percent to 8,135 tonnes.
European volumes dropped by 9.7 percent to a total of 23,242 tonnes, and domestic air cargo was down as well by 6,3 percent to 3,856 tonnes.
In December, 2006, the growth was a mere 0.8 percent, to 7,686 tonnes, again saved by the Asian traffic, up 9.9 percent to 3,956 tonnes.
