Jan 30, 2007 (newstodate): It has now been confirmed to newstodate that Finnair Cargo will indeed build a new cargo terminal at Helsinhki Vantaa Airport.
-The project has been approved by Finnair's board, and the new cargo complex will ready for operations by the end of next year, 2008, says Juha-Matti Puhakka, Finnair Assistant VP.
No details have so far been published, but according to industry sources the new cargo terminal will be able to handle up to 150,000 tonnes of cargo annually in its first phase, and later stages will be implemented as volumes grow.
Construction costs will be in the excess of euro 100 million, sources say.
News of the planned new cargo terminal broke early last autumn, but the project has since been shrouded in secrecy.
