Jan 22, 2007 (newstodate): Serbia's hopes for Cat 1 rating by the US CAA are once again extinguished by the latest FAA Flight Aviation Safety Assessment.
In its latest edition, dated January 16, 2007, Serbia remains a Cat 2 country, meaning that a Serb carrier will not be allowed to establish direct flights into the US market as its aviation flight safety record fails to meet ICAO standards.
As earlier, Serbia's only hope to get a direct flight to USA will hinge on cooperation with a third party from a country rated Category 1.
The renewed Category 2 rating will remain valid until FAA's next revision that will probably take place around the end of 2007, or early 2008.
