Jan 3, 2007 (newstodate): At a meeting in Stockholm on November 29, CASS Nordic decided to propose the extension of its services to comprise Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
The decision will now be presented for approval by CASS at a forthcoming meeting in Geneva, but CASS Nordic's managing director, Ullla Nilson will visit the Baltic markets already in January or February to seek commmitments to the plan from local air cargo industry parties including airlines, GSAs and agents.
-While the Baltic markets are still comparatively small in volumes, their economic growth rates are about 12-15 percent and this will render air cargo even more important, says Thomas Hedberg, CASS Nordic assistant manager.
Already in spring 2005 CASS Nordic performed a feasibility study of the Baltic air cargo markets to assess the viability of introducing CASS services, to be managed from CASS Nordic's office in Stockholm.
According to Mr Hedberg, CASS may be introduced in the Baltic markets later this year already, provided the plan is approved by CASS in Geneva.
