Jan 19, 2007 (newstodate): Preparations for including the three Baltic markets within the CASS accounting system are progressing.
A CASS Nordic representative will now tour Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania to meet with representatives from the airfreight communities, including airlines, forwarders, GSAs and others in order to obtain their support to the proposals.
-The procedures are already going on, and while there are still a number of issues to be solved, the basics are settled and I would expect to see the three countries joining the CASS Nordic around this summer, says Ulla Nilson, CASS Nordic Manager.
-While the airfreight volumes are still limited in these markets, the operational issues are the same as everywhere and the use of CASS in accounting, bank securities, transfers and settlements of payments will immediately benefit the Baltic airfreight communities.
