Sep 19, 2006 (newstodate): According to the latest official statistics, Stockholm Arlanda experienced a sustained decline in cargo volumes by 30 percent during the first eight months of this year.
In January-August 2006, the airport generated a total of 31,125 tonnes of cargo against 44,165 tonnes during the same period in 2005.
The figures, however, only count flown cargo and exclude trucked cargo, and the Swedish CAA is still marred by unreliable statistical reportings that it claims are blurring the picture.
With the recent addition of cargo flights by Korean Air and Cathay Pacific the downward trend is expected to change from the September reporting.
