Sep 5, 2006 (newstodate): SAS International is confident that its current fleet of 11 Airbus A330 and A340 is sufficient to support the addition of the new Stockholm-Beijing route from next spring.
SAS' intercontinental operations have been hit by many cancellations due to scheduled maintenance as well as unplanned technical incidents.
-We are convinced that we have enough Airbus A340 capacity to add the new route, but we may consider reducing frequency on certain existing routes on days with lower traffic loads, says Kerstin Edenby-Stross, SAS Intercont director information & communication.
With the planned new route SAS will operated a total of 17 weekly Airbus A340 flights to China, including daily flights from Copenhagen to Beijing, six weekly flights from Copenhagen to Shanghai, and the announced four weekly flights from Stockholm to Beijing.
