Sep 4, 2006 (newstodate): SAS Cargo has been affected by a series of cancellations by SAS Intercont of planned flights between USA, Scandinavia and the Far East.
-The cancellations are reportedly due to both planned aircraft maintenance and unplanned technical incidents that we would indeed have been happy to be without, says Ulrik Marschall, SAS Cargo communications manager.
-We do, however, strive to re-route cargo shipments to alternative routings whenever irregularities occur, to minimise the effects on our customers.
-The major proportion of our business derives from our intercontinental traffic, which is a major reason behind our strategy to complement our capacity on the SAS fleet through blocked-space agreements with preferred carriers on selected routes, says Mr Marschall.
SAS Cargo now has blocked-space agreements with carriers on the routes Gothenburg-Hong Kong-Gothenburg, Gothenburg-Osaka-Gothenburg, Copenhagen-Shanghai-Copenhagen, New York-Oslo, Chicago-Oslo, and Copenhagen-Chicago-Copenhagen.
