Sep 19, 2006 (newstodate): Russia's first low cost operator, Sky Express, is slated for its first take-off from its future home base Moscow Vnukovo later this year.
The carrier will operate a fleet of 44 Boeing 737 aircraft on routes from Moscow to the European part of Russia and Western Siberia, and has been recruiting Russian pilots with Boeing certificates. The first three aircraft are due to be received this autumn.
Initial capitalisation of the airline will be USD 48 million, and at a meeting by mid-October EBRD may support the project with a USD20 million loan.
