Sep 21, 2006 (newstodate): Russian St Petersburg-based carrier Pulkovo has decided to phase out all its TU-134 aircraft.
The airline has announced its decision to acquire up to 10 Embraer 170 to replace the ageing Russian- built aircraft.
In a first phase, Pulkovo will take in four Embraer 170 on a lease arrangement with GECAS, with deliveries by early summer, 2007.
The airline will then buy up to six more aircraft by summer 2007.
With this strategic decision Pulkovo has refused to opt for Russia's own new regional aircraft, the An-148 and Sukhoi SuperJet100 now being marketed in Russia and abroad.
