Sep 25, 2006 (newstodate): The Russian carrier TransAero has placed an order for eight A330-200 aircraft.
The aircraft will be delivered on a lease agreement from 2009.
A further order for another batch of up to 10 Airbus A320 aircraft is expected shortly.
In May TransAero was said to acquire five Airbus A320 aircraft for medium-range routes, and four Airbus A340 for longhaul flights.
TransAero is otherwise a strong Boeing customer, being Russia's first and so far only Boeing 747 operator, and also operates seven Boeing 767 and six Boeing 737 Classic aircraft, with six Boeing 737-800 aircraft on order.
In addition, TransAero has also placed firm orders for 10 TU-214 aircraft.
