Sep 29, 2006 (newstodate): The modernisation of Ekaterinburg Koltsovo Airport in Russia's Sverdlovsk region will be completed in October, 2006.
The program for upgrading and expanding the airport was initiated in April, supervised by Lufthansa Consulting.
Together with its consultant, the airport is now working on Russian and European airlines to increase its traffic system.
The airport has been designated to become the region's largest airport hub, with the Russian goverment's full support, and federal budgets together with private investments have been used for renovation of the airport's two existing runways and the building of a third one, in addition to construction of a new terminal.
