Sep 11, 2006 (newstodate): Prospects for a large increase in cargo volumes at the Faroe Islands' Vagar Airport seem promising in 2006
In August, the airport generated a total of 41 tonnes of air cargo representing an increase by 53.2 percent, y-o-y, and during the period January-August the total volume was 292 tonnes, up 21.3 percent on last year.
-We do see a marked increase in cargo volumes this year, says Magni Arge, Atlantic Airways CEO.
-The explaination is the strong rebounce in the Faroese exports of salmon and other aquatic products that dipped last year. Also our imports have kept stable, so all together this warrants a good year in cargo, says mr Arge.
