Sep 25, 2006 (newstodate): From October 1, 2006, "North West Europe" will replace the "Mediterranean" spot market as the point of reference for Lufthansa Cargo's calculation of its fuel surcharge.
-This measure is in recognition of the growing importance of the North West Europe market, says Nils Haupt, Lufthansa Cargo Director Corporate Communications.
-In the future, Lufthansa Cargo will thus take developments on the world's five leading spot markets for crude oil into consideration when calculating the Fuel Price Index, he says.
From October, the European spot markets will account for more than 50 per cent share in the calculation of the FPI compared to the previous figure of 40 per cent.
