Sep 7, 2006 (newstodate): Finnair is till not ready to join CASS Nordic in Finland, and the latest deadline, August/September 2006 has now been extended into "beginning of 2007", a company spokesman says.
CASS Nordic was implemented in Finland by April, 2003, with KLM, Air Canada and Martinair as the first airline members, and ever since the Finnish airfreight industry has been waiting for Finnair Cargo to join.
In 2004, Finnair Cargo announced its decision to join CASS in Finland, pending a decision on which cargo system to implement, replacing its Unisys-based system.
The company decided for Cargolux' e-champ system, modified as EGO in Finnair Cargo, but the implementation of subsystems including the e-booking module has proved to more demanding than anticipated, and still holds back the eventual integration with CASS Nordic in Finland, while Finnair Cargo has long been a member of CASS Nordic in the Scandinavian markets.
