Sep 4, 2006 (newstodate): In August, Denmark's Billund Airport upped its cargo volumes by no less than 19.6 percent, y-o-y.
In total the airport handled 5,147 tonnes of cargo including 2,566 tonnes of imports, up 12 percent, and 2,581 tonnes of exports, up 28.2 percent.
For January-August, totals are now 35,451 tonnes, up 3.7 percent.
-With the August-volumes we have clearly overcome the effects from the high export volumes in the first part of 2005, driven by big volumes of Tsunami relief shipments. We are now back to normal and seeing brisk increases especially in export volumes, says Jan Dirlevsen, Billund Airport cargo manager.
Mr Ditlevsen predicts a new record in 2006, around 55,000 tonnes of cargo.
