Sep 22, 2006 (newstodate): The Belarus government has adopted a state aviation development program for the period 2006-2010.
The decision is backed by an allocation of funds to realise the goals in the program aiming at acquisition of new regional aircraft for domestic and regional flights, and one Boeing 737 that will allow new routes to be opened from Minsk to Vienna in 2006, to Prague and Beijing in 2007, to Amsterdam and Barcelona in 2008, to Budapest in 2009, and to Saloniki in 2010.
Funds wil also be alloated to re-engining the IL-76 aircraft on Belarus registry.
Minsk Airport's security will be upgraded, and new handling equipment will be acquired under the program as well.
