Aug 25, 2006 (newstodate): Russia's Transport Supervision Service has started a series of inspections into Russian airlines' operations with western-built aircraft.
The inspections are driven by the recent months' many aircraft accidents, and all airlines using foreign aircraft will be inspected.
Sources say the initial inspections of airlines including S7 Sibir Airlines have proved that there are flaws both in operations and maintenance procedures, and airlines will face strict demands on corrective actions with short deadlines.
