Aug 28, 2006 (newstodate): SAS International is very satisfied with the performance of its 11 A330 and A340 aircraft despite a number of cancellations of flights.
-Since the start of this year we have had a total of six unplanned technical incidents, including the latest engine change on an A330 in New York, says a company spokeswoman.
-Our performance with these aircraft are thus about 99 percent which is of course entirely satisfactory.
-The problem, however, is that one incident will effect a series of flights in the scheduling of the aircraft, thus giving rise to the false impression that the intercontinental services are not reliable.
The reality, then, is that a number of cancellations have repeatedly hit SAS' intercontinental services to the US and to destinations in the Far East.
Thus this weekend, the airline was forced to cancel its Copenhagen-Tokyo services.
