Aug 16, 2006 (newstodate): The Russian airline UTair, based at Khanty-Mansiysk, is planning for a major fleet modernisation this year.
After a tender in 2004, the carrier opted for acquisition of ATR-42 aircraft, ordering an initial batch of five aircraft.
In 2005 UTAir will replace its fleet of 30 Yak-40 and An-24 with 15 ATR-42 aircraft.
The carrier now operates a fleet comprising 114 jet aircraft including Tu-154, Tu-134, Yak-40, An-24 and An-26, and 169 helicopters of various types.
