Aug 23, 2006 (newstodate): A new passenger terminal, financed by EBRD, has been inaugurated at Montenegro's Podgorica Airport.
Construction and supervision of the project has been provided by the British company Halcrow that is also involved in supervision of the construction works at Montenegro's other airport, at Tivat.
Besides the new 6,000 sq m terminal, the taxiway and runway apron at Podgorica airport are being refurbished and extended, and a new airfield lighting system installed.
With the separation of Serbia and Montenegro into separate states, Montenegro's Podgorica Airport is expected to grow significantly in international traffic.
Among the airlines now operating at Podgorica Airport are Malev, Austrian Airlines, Montenegro Airlines, and Adria Airlines.
