Aug 31, 2006 (newstodate): Relatively low-profiled in marketing efforts, Martinair is seeing a stable market in the Nordic markets.
-After a number of years with steep growth we have managed to maintain both volumes and market shares in the Nordic and Baltic region, says Thorbjorn Lundblad, Martinair Nordic & Baltic director.
-Sweden is by far our single largest market with about half of the total regional volume, and our main focus is on export shipments to South America, North America and Africa, while Martinair's services to the demanding Far Eastern market are also developing, albeit in a highly competitive and low-yield environment.
-All traffic generated in our Nordic and Baltic markets is channeled via our regional hub at Malmo Air Cargo, and after palletisation trucked to Martinair's hub at Amsterdam.
-The recent take-over of Malmo Air Cargo by Menzies that also operates at Amsterdam and world-wide may entail some further future benefits, e.g. in the IT and data areas, says Mr Lundblad.
