Aug 16, 2006 (newstodate): Icelandair Cargo is seeing brisk development and growth in 2006.
In July Icelandair Cargo saw its volumes up by 16 percent, to a total of 3,013 tonnes.
During January-July, the growth was 14 percent, to 23,154 tonnes of cargo.
-The biggest factor in the July results was a 22.6 percent increase in exports from Iceland, whereas imports grew by 12.7 percent and transit traffic through Keflavik Airport grew by 4.5 percent, says Petur J. Eiriksson, Icelandair Cargo managing director.
-Cargo carried on freighter aircraft has been growing faster than lower hold cargo on passenger aircraft. Now 78 percent of the uplift is on the B575 freighters, while volumes on passenger flights have declined to 22 pcent, he says.
