Aug 18, 2006 (newstodate): From October 29, British Airways will discontinue operating its route to Vilnius, Lithuania.
The five weekly flights were re-introduced in March, 2005, after a long period of suspension since 2000.
-The operations are not unprofitable, but probably do not live up to BA's demand for profitability, so the decision has been tken to close down services, says Rasa Barisiene, BA Lithuania sales and marketing manager.
-We do not leave Lithuania, however. The sales office will remain, and we will fly passengers to and from Lithuania and the BA world network by Finnair and flyLAL, says Mrs Barisiene.
BA World Cargo's GSA in Lithuania is Konekta.
