Aug 9, 2006 (newstodate): Baltic Cargo Center at Riga Airport, Latvia, is amidst an expansion program for its cargo warehouse, expected to be completed by September/October.
BCC plans to extend the warehouse at Riga Airport by another 700 sq m, bringing the total area to 1,600 sq m, and boost capacity to 10-11,000 tonnes of cargo a year.
With the expansion, the warehouse will have two landside gates equiped for convenient handling of RFS trucks, with one gate capable of handling pallets to and from the trucks.
During H1 2006, BCC handled a total of 2,074 tonnes of cargo, up 12 percent y-o-y.
Airline customers include airBaltic, Lufthansa and SAS, and road feeder trucks from Air France, Cargolux, and Singapore Airlines.
