Aug 22, 2006 (newstodate): BA World Cargo is readying to launch operations at its new purpose-built premium product handling facility at London Heathrow on September 4.
Immediately adjacent to the Ascentis cargo terminal, the new 7,200 sq m Premia facility will add an extra to-thirds to the company's premium cargo handling capacity.
The building is designed to cut handling lead-times to a minimum, enabling freight to move between airside and landside at a speed of 18 m per minute, supporting availability times for premium shipments down to 90 minutes.
The launch of the new terminal coincides with the launch across the entire BA network of BAWC's latest two premium produces - Prioritise for express shipments of any size and weight, and BA Airmail.
Also comprised by the new BA premium product series is Constant Climate, building on use of Envirotainers, to be rolled out by phases from September.
