Jul 4, 2006 (newstodate): The project for Romanian lcc United European Airways is progressing, and the carrier is preparing to take in its first Airbus A320 aircraft shortly.
-The contract for lease of our first aircraft is being finalised, and plans are to add the second aircraft by December, to be followed by lease of two wide-body aircraft, Airbus A300/330 Boeing B767-200/300ER in 2007, says Cristian Rada, United European Airways president.
-The process has indeed been more demanding that originally foreseen, but the project in on track, based on a firm financial basis, and with the intentions to add wide-body aircraft from next year already we signal our intention to move into the segment for tourist traffic to destination in the Far East, says Mr Rada.
Earlier plans were for a launch of operations by October, 2005, already, but aircraft crews are now under training preparing for an imminent start of operations, with a route to London first on the agenda.
