Jul 31, 2006 (newstodate): Work has started on construction of the new cargo terminal at Krasnoyarsk Yemelyanovo Airport.
The project is driven by AirBridge Cargo that has operating at the aiport since 2004, and the new facility will play a pivotal role in the carrier's plan to open transpolar Boeing 747-400F flights via Krasnoyarsk betwen the US and Far Eastern markets from 2007.
In its first phase, the new terminal scheduled to open in 2007 will comprise 4,000 sq meters with aircraft parking spaces for AirBridge Cargo aircraft, also offering a centralized fueling system.
The second stage of development is to be completed in 2008 to incorporate Tier II construction of the same area, and over the next ten years a cargo village with a well-developed logistics infrastructure is envisaged.
