Jul 3, 2006 (newstodate): Billund Airport, in western Denmark, ended its H1 with a modest increase by 0.7 percent in cargo volumes.
In total, the airport generated 26,039 tonnes of air cargo, including 12,776 tonnes of imports and 13,263 tonnes of exports.
The comparatively slow growth reflected the impact from extraordinarily large volumes volumes of shipments destined for the Tsunami disaster areas in early 2005.
In June, the airport's growth was 12.7 percent, to 4,445 tonnes of air cargo including 1,792 tonnes of imports and 2,663 tonnes of exports.
The airport thus expects this year's tonnage to exceed last year's record volume of 52,103 tonnes.
